Last 2 videos!

Ahh, so. I wanted to round up this blog and the video posting so I'm a bit late but better late than never right?

So, Japan was amazing. I loved every single second of it and was pretty sad to come home, but atleast my hair doesn't frizz all the time in England. And we have decent cheese.

These last two videos are from Tsukiji market and me being dressed up in a yukata and a short trip to the old people's Harajuku, Sugamo. Tsukiji market is probably one of the most famous fish markets in the world let alone Japan and we woke up at 4:30 AM!! on our last day to be in time to watch the tuna auction and get the freshest (and probably most expensive) sushi in the world!

The first half of the second video involves me being dressed by the next door neighbour in a yukata which is an informal, summer version of the kimono. I was borrowing it but it was beautifulllll! Kind of hard to walk in the geta (or traditional sandals worn with yukata) though.

The second half is of Sugamo, which we went to after tsukiji market so we were super tired, but it was really good (especially the interesting food....) and full of old people!

Anyway, thank you for reading this all and I hope you enjoyed it and that I managed to show atleast a glimpse of how awesome Japan really is. I had an amazing timmmee!!! :D

Takao-san

Yello.

Yesterday we climbed (the HARD way) up a mountain near Tokyo called Takao-san or Mt. Takao (高尾). It was very picturesque, hard - but worth it! At the top there was a temple and loads of shrines, and we happened to arrive in time to see the procession of people getting ready for a mountain pilgrimage.

We also went to the Trick Art Museum situated near the base of the mountain which was full of tromp l'oeil paintings and rooms full of tricks for the eyes :D It was pretty awesome, and as you'll see in my video, I get to be taller than Tai (or anyone) for a while!! :D

Anyway, the day was really fun and luckily we got to see the early stages of a matsuri (or a Japanese festival) just before it began, and people in the nearest shrine were giving out free sake! On top of that, it was not just ANY sake, but it was sake of the gods and apparently ensured 1 year good health! Hooray!

Enjoy the video!

Hopefully the video's working now???

HEYYY GUYS

Sorry about the lack of posts recently!!!

Since Tai was ill we've just been staying close, revisiting some places in Tokyo we wanted to see again and winning lots of prizes in the UFO catchers!!

Tomorrow we're going up a mountain, the day after that I'm apparently getting dressed up in a kimono, and on Monday we're going to the famous Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo for fresh sushi (AT FIVE AM) and to see the tuna auction, so be expecting some cool videos soon :D

As you may know, I received my A level results and therefore also my place at University yesterday. Sadly, I didn't get the grades needed to get on the Japanese studies with German course I wanted to, and it was completely over subscribed, so instead Manchester offered me a place on the German course and I haven't officially accepted yet but I probably will. I'm glad I got into Man chest hair though.

Okay so, I come back on the 25th so I only have 4 days left! (sob) But anyway, now's the time to ask for anything Japanese you would perhaps like me to bring back (within reason, you know, food, ornaments, giant life-sized Gundams, etc, etc) and I will do my best! Just leave me a comment at the bottom of this post or something.

Kyoto video!!

Since we didn't do much today for obvious reasons, I had time to make my Kyoto video!! :D

We visited the kinkakuji (金閣寺) or "golden pavilion", the kiyomizudera (清水寺) or "pure water temple" and also the streets around where the Geisha live. Sadly we never got close enough to one to have our picture taken ):

Anyway here it is:

Also, Tai is up and about now feeling a little better :)

Don't forget to comment and let me know what you think!

xxxxx

P.s.: my video wasn't working at first because of the music I've been using in it - it seems to be working now but let me know if it doesn't and maybe I'll upload it somewhere else.

Update O:

Hai guys.

We arrived in Tokyo from Kansai on the 13th in the evening and it was good to be on the left side of the esculator again.

Tai's mum got home just after we did and since then we've been out a bit just seeing friends of Tai's parents'. Last night we had dinner at the Ikedas' (the people who took us out for all-you-can-eat sushi!) and it was yummy.

Today however, disaster has struck!

We were supposed to be leaving today to get on the bullet train again to go to the Japanese coast to visit more friends of the family but Tai has sadly gotten food poisoning or something of that kind. ):

At the moment he's in bed sleeping and we've given him plenty of fluids but we're just waiting for it to pass.

Anyway, hopefully everything your way is okay!!

Video and pictures from Nara

Back in Tokyo!!

Back on the left side of the esculators!!

Kansai was brilliant.

We went to Nara in Kansai and there was a big park and lots of deers. That's basically all we did. Tourment deers.

Me and Tai decided to pretend to be deers. Why, I can't quite remember now.

Kyoto photos!

We went to Kyoto again today and spent most of the day at the kiyomizu-dera (清水寺) or the "pure water temple" which is on a hill and gave an amazing view of the rest of the city - as well as being beautiful itself! :D

I have A LOT of footage video-wise from Kyoto too, but it may be a couple of days until I finish a video.

Here are the photos anyway though, we took quite a lot!!! Also, if you click on the photos they will come up in a much bigger size so please do!! For some reason uploading them on to my blog makes the quality a lot worse.

playing around with long shutter speed - I was doing the moonwalk. Sort of.
